Ice Maker Not Making Ice? Desert Troubleshooting

In the Coachella Valley heat, a broken ice maker is more than an inconvenience. If yours has stopped producing, here are the usual culprits.

1. Frozen or clogged water line

The fill tube can freeze over or clog with mineral buildup, cutting off water to the ice maker.

2. Faulty water inlet valve

If the inlet valve fails or water pressure is low, the tray never fills.

3. Bad ice maker module or thermostat

The motor, mold thermostat, or control module can fail and stop the harvest cycle.

4. Freezer temperature too high

Ice makers need the freezer around 0°F. If it's warmer, production slows or stops.
